Getting Back Into the Routine After the Holidays
Share
The holidays are always such a magical time—full of family, food, and fun—but coming back to “real life” afterward can feel like a bit of a shock to the system. Last week, my family and I were slowly finding our rhythm again, juggling new activities, routines, and even planning a little vacation.
One of the big highlights has been my daughters starting musical theater! They’re so excited, and watching them dive into something creative and expressive is such a joy. Between learning lines, practicing songs, and perfecting choreography, it’s been a fun—but busy—adjustment for our evenings and weekends.
At the same time, we were also packing for an upcoming vacation. Even though packing can feel like a chore, there’s something exciting about seeing everything come together—suitcases ready, outfits planned, and snacks stashed for the road. It’s a reminder that life is full of little transitions, and planning ahead makes them so much smoother.
Amid all the activity, we’ve been focusing on getting back into a routine—meal planning, daily prayer, and carving out time for each other. The holidays were wonderful, but there’s a comfort in consistency, in returning to the rhythms that keep our days grounded and intentional.
If there’s one takeaway from last week, it’s that balance is key. It’s okay to move slowly back into routine, embrace new adventures like musical theater, and even enjoy the thrill of vacation prep. Life is a mix of responsibilities and joys, and learning to flow between them is what makes each week meaningful.
Here’s to finding joy in the everyday—even when the calendar starts filling up again!
